(B)eats of the Week

Ok... so I know it isn't big fat Friday just yet, but I've been fueling late night homework sessions with big bass drops all week. annnnd I think they need to be heard so you can do the same!

This song has been remixed a handful of times, but this is by far the best version I've heard.

California Dreamin' (Minnesota Remix).mp3

Vocal track was a little too fancy-pants poppy for me at first, but a couple more listens and I was into it... realllly into it.

Mike Posner - Please Don't Go (Butch Clancy Remix).mp3

You'd think you'd be tired of the bassline after it drops the 4th time. Nope!

More tomorrow!

Have a mind-blowing Thursday night.

Anyways, episode two of Turn Up Tune Out is a little more upbeat than the first, but I think you'll still slink pretty far down in that seat of yours by the end.

Big Fat Fridays -2-

First I need to mention this up and coming youngster I had the pleasure of seeing play the phoenix back in February alongside Skrillex and Nero!

He mixes heavy bass with alot of lighter elements including trancey synth here and there, the occasional cheesy club vocal line, and hey... it works! Fusing electro house with dubstep influence, Porter Robinson has a winning combo that fills the dancefloor every time, no praaablem. On top of that, I also found it amazing how he manages to wake up and go to school every day... high school that is.

...and for anyone else who is craving some big dubstep, heres a few tracks that you and your neighbors will be sure to enjoy!

*If you have decent speakers you really need to DL these ones! youtube bass doesn't do them (or most dubstep) justice.

Cool, Calm, & Collected

After talking all time favorite hip-hop over a few pitchers last night, I woke up with rhymes on my mind (hah)... and since it's like the 3rd day of spring and it's snowing outside, I think sending some Cool Calm Pete your way today sounds pretty appropriate!

Born in Korea, raised in New York, The name says it all, Cool Calm Pete has slick flow that will have you bobbing your head with ease. If you've ever heard The Streets before, you'll know what I'm talking about when I say Pete has perfected the purposely sloppy, behind the beat, lazy feeling technique in his delivery.

These two songs are from his 2005 debut album "Lost", if you like em, definitely check out the album! You won't be disappointed. Sorry, couldn't find mp3 downloads :(

I also thought I'd include a track from Cool Calm's old group Babbletron. Hopefully this vinyl recording warms you up on this chilly Spring afternoon.

Bang your Ed til' you break your neck!

Ok, so today was supposed to be episode 1 of "Get The Funk Outta My Face", but soundcloud is giving me shit about uploading copyrighted stuff or something! So insteaddd..... I'll talk about some other stuff I've been into lately.

Anybody who's anybody has rocked out to a handful of Justice tracks over the last few years... but what about the rest of the Ed Banger crew? These guys all have some serious tunes that you may not have had the chance to appreciate yet, heres a few!

My personal Ed Banger fav. SebastiAn. This first one is brand new.

Editors - Camera (SebastiAn Remix).mp3

Big Fat Fridays

So in putting together Fresh Tasty Beats... I've decided every Friday will be dedicated to big fat bass, just to be sure you're pumped for the weekend.

Combining the awesomeness of drum n bass with dubstep has some face-melting effects, be warned. I think the kids these days are callin' it drumstep, I just call it big fat bass. Enjoy!

If Boys Noize and The Bloody Beetroots had a big gangbang of a baby... this is what that baby's producing skills might sound like. These two fellas out of Italy put together some wicked electro tracks that are sure to impress. I think these tunes appeal to more than just electro enthusiasts, and would be stellar party music anywhere, you tell me!

Lastly, I just love Datsik... and he eats basslines for breakfast... sooooo:

Hope you're hungry...

I thought what better way to kick off fresh tasty beats than with a new track from my all-time fav, the Mau5 himself. This track really reminded me of the oldschool Deadmau5 sound (faxing berlin/brazil-ish), which was a pleasant surprise to these ears. At almost 11 minutes long, I think you'll find yourself happily lost in this epic tune.

Fun fact: This song is named after a distant star. Searching google, you won't find any information about the actual star til page 13. Deadmau5>astronomers

Just earlier he posted up another track by the name of "Bleed". While this tune isn't what most fans look for from the producer, it certainly delivers to those who enjoy the Mau5's occasional dips into more ambient sound. If you're looking to dance, look elsewhere. If you're looking to chill out to some warm spacey goodness, this one is for you.

I was also excited to hear of another new tune coming out of the great city of Toronto, and cranked my speakers in anticipation of the return of MSTRKRFT. Their first original released in quite some time, this track has everything you would expect from the duo, PLUS SOME BADASS GUITAR! See if you can hear the DFA 1979 influence in this one, it's hard not to.
