I haven't had much writing time lately, as my non-electronic music life has been keeping me plenty busy! There isn't too much to say about today's featured album. It's a whole collection of Wu-Tang dubstep remixes, whats not to like right?
Here are a few of my favorites off of "Wu-Tang Clan Meets The Indie Culture Vol.2 (Enter The Dubstep)".
Wu-Tang Clan - Biochemical Equation (Datsik & Excision Remix).mp3
Wu-Tang Clan - Keep Hustlin (Trillbass Remix).mp3
Wu-Tang Clan - Handle the Heights (Stenchman Remix)

Rusko @ Koolhaus - April 23/11
Of all the amazing DJ's I've had the privilege of seeing live, few can match the incredible enthusiasm brought to the stage by Rusko... Last Saturday, he blew my mind and crippled my body at Koolhaus once again.
Opening the late night madness was Doorly, and I'm disappointed to say we missed a good chunk of his set due to double overtime and a long-ass lineup outside... I hope to catch him another time, as I was really looking forward to his set.
I will admit I have been doubting Rusko's latest work, including the beats for a few tracks on that new Brittney Spears album (I know, right?), but dancing my way through his live set reminded me why I once again bought a ticket to see it. This guy brings the energy every time, and you can hear it clearly in his sets. Each drop just seems even more necessary than the last, and his constant "lets keep this party going" shoutouts let you know he's just as tired and sweaty as the rest of you, but is enjoying himself far too much to even think about anything but the incredible beats flowing out of those monster speakers.
If you missed this easter weekend awesomeness, consider yourself lucky he'll probably be back soon enough! Since Rusko loves Toronto and its show-goers so much (who doesn't), I'm sure it won't be too long before he makes his return.
Until i get my hands on an iPhone like every other person filming around me during these things, I won't have any video to upload for you. Luckily, somebody else is always nice enough to do it for us! Once the music started pumping I lost all sense of time pretty quickly, but from what I can remember, Rusko must've be on about two hours or so. Heres some solid footage of 45 mins or so... the sound is decent, but make sure you watch in HD!

Big Fat Fridays -5-
This Big Fat Friday goes out to Feed Me (also known as Spor in the DnB scene). This guy deserves high fives to the max for conquering all sorts of genres... drum n bass, electro, dubstep, its all there! I can't claim to have heard even close to all of his discography, but Feed Me's newest album has everything I look for in solid bass-heavy productions. Head rippin' synth leads, funky ass thumpin drum beats, and of course... Big. Fat. Bass.
Whether you're looking to dance the night away, or just nerd out to some serious high quality production skills, this is for you!
Here are my faves from Feed Me's Big Adventure (click for full album download), released on mau5trap.

Turn Up. Tune Out. - Dubstep Edition
Hey! It's been awhile since I posted the last episode of Turn Up, Tune Out... and I figured I was due for a new one. This week will be an all dubstep edition, but not of the "filthy/disgusting/insert synonym for dirty here" variety. These tracks, although fairly well known... attract more bedroom listeners rather than party-goers.
Crank that sub and light one up!

Big Fat Fridays -4-
More Skrillex??? The multi-talented Sonny Moore comes out with another big release. This time he teams up with a musical hero of his, Korn to create this big badass mess of noise. Whether you enjoy it or not, I doubt you've heard much else like it.
Biggg fan of the breakdown at 2:32!
Korn ft. Skrillex - Get Up.mp3
I'm not going to say too much about this artist because I want to save a whole post for his album, Feed Me's Big Adventure. For now, heres a little taste.
Feed Me - Blood Red.mp3
Annnnnd I'll finish off with a little Downlink to further bass up your day.

Turn Up. Tune Out. - Episode 3
Episode 3 of the finest in chill music! Soundcloud was giving me trouble again, so I shortened my mix down to Youtube size and tossed it up there instead. You can still download it here, and I made it mp3 this time so you don't need to download a bigass wav file.
Today I dug deep into my library and pulled out songs from all over the map. Started with some light dancey hip-hop in the streets, into some laid back tracks from dubstep producers Skream and Zed's Dead, then of course a little bit of Deadmau5... I topped things off with what I would call Aphex Twin's best production in Windowlicker, as well as some minimal greatness from John Tejada with James Figurine on vocals. If you enjoy that last one, I'd recommend grabbing a copy of John Tejada's "Logic memory Center".
Now prepare to rock your socks off!!!!!!!!! Just kidding, you can keep your socks on for this one.
Tracklist (click for downloads):
The Streets - Weak Become Heroes
Skream ft. Freckles - How Real
Massive Attack - Paradise Circus (Zed's Dead Remix)
Deadmau5 ft. Kaskade - I Remember (Vocal Mix)
Aphex Twin - Windowlicker
John Tejada ft. James Figurine - Everything Will Be OK

Skrillex + Mortal Kombat = Holy Shit!
If you've been following the updates on the new Mortal Kombat game coming out shortly, you are well aware of this new Skrillex track. I had the privilege of hearing it live in February and since have been teased by live recordings and snippets and trailers... it has been an awful wait, but now its here!
Skrillex - Reptile's Theme.mp3
The entire soundtrack is put together by executive producer JFK (of MSTRKRFT/Death from Above 1979), and features tracks by the likes of JFK himself, Congorock, and many more.

"Y'all can't rap this dope with a zig-zag!"
I'm skipping Big Fat Friday this week, as one of my favorite lyricists is in town, and I thought I should post up some of his tunes to get this night started! I'll get some heavy bass to you later this weekend.
If you haven't heard Shad before... figure it out pal. I was lucky enough to catch him once after each of his last two albums, When This is Over and The Old Prince (If I'm on the ball with my hiphopology today). Now Peterborough has the chance to hear some of his newest album TSOL, which has been raising a ruckus across North America, many claiming Shad as one of the best Canadian rap artists of all time. There is no way I can disagree with that statement!

Here are some of my all time Shad faves. If you're going tonight, see you there. I'll be the gentleman near the front rocking out harder than the rest. Also, arrive early! My current band's vocalist, Danny Taro of Bears Beats will be opening along with DJ Who and you don't wanna miss him.
Get excited!!!

Jazz Shmazz
Seems like Jazz is a genre not often enough chosen to be infused with electronic music. My explanation for this is that too many listeners see it as "old people music". To be fair... old guys seem to know their shit when it comes to thumpin' stand-up bass and dirty sax solos. Maybe I'm wrong about all this, but if I am, I guess I just haven't heard enough swingin Jazz Influencing today's electronic music scene.
A long time friend of mine turned me onto this guy a few years back, and now when I want to feel like a real swingin' cat... I toss on some Quantic. These are a few track off of his "5th Exotic" album. Check it out.
Quantic - Not So Blue.mp3
Quantic - Life in the Rain.mp3
Now I wouldn't call Lemon Jelly Jazz... but the influence is there. They also use quite interesting vocal samples that might weird you out, but they definitely flow with the odd, yet catchy music these guys pump out. This one comes from their album "KY", love that name!

Big Fat Fridays -3-
Friday! Yeahhhh! Today's artist I'm sending your way is something different in the dubstep scene. I don't know how to describe Joker's style... but to me its dubstep, with a gangsta rap G-funk influence... mixed with nintendo. Hope you enjoy these as much as I do!
Don't forget to watch in 720p, makes a big difference! and don't forget to download songs (links below the videos) if you like them, so you can hear them all day and all night!
