Welcome Reality

Over the last year or so, Nero has impressed me on a constant basis with their single releases. Welcome Reality was basically a concentrated dose of those powerful tracks all mashed into one big tasty FULL LENGTH album. I put the emphasis on full length, because if you purchased the deluxe edition, you were given the opportunity to pleasure your ear holes to almost TWO HOURS of original material. It really bums me out when I go to check out a full album and I hear the bare minimum... Nero went with 20 tracks (including their 17 minute symphony piece) on the deluxe edition. That is how it's done!

Now let me get to the content, because there's no way these talented producers would sacrifice quality for quantity. I can sum it up by saying 10 tracks deep, I was already convinced this was my favorite album of 2011. Not only did Nero team up with the famous BBC Philharmonic symphony, combining dubstep with a full range of live instrumentation, but it felt like the guys were heavily influenced by this experience. It came through in the rest of their tracks too, as the album had that epic beginning to end build you might experience at a symphony.

The other trend I noticed throughout the album was the abundance of oldschool 80's sounding synth lines. They also happened to remix (or sample depending how you look at it) the popular "Crush On You" from that same time period. Coincidence? I think not!

Another throwback track, sort of a french house-y feel:

Annnnd of course there were plenty of epic new dubstep tracks:

...as well as a bunch of tracks previously released as singles. These ones have already been destroying clubs for awhile now, but definitely worth hearing if you're a new follower of Nero.
